IMG_8586ed

Food delivery has gotten even easier and convenient with the Food Panda App that is easily available on the smart phone. The Food Panda Home Delivery App can be easily download from the Apple App StoreGoogle Play and Windows Store

Pictures

It was a raining day and we were too lazy to cook. Hence I went to the Food Panda App for rescue. Upon launching the application and keying in the postal code of our place, the application listed down the restaurants that are opened for delivery. After browsing through the restaurants list, I decided to try some Northern Indian cuisine from Indian Curry House. It will be perfect for the cold raining weather.

Pictures1

Navigation of the restaurant's menu is easy with photos and description of the dishes. After adding the food order, the basket will display a summary detail of the items, total amount as well as the expected delivery time.

Pictures2

Last but not least, proceed to checkout to make payment with a choice of Cash On Delivery or Online Payment.

I wasn't expecting a panda greeting me when I received my delivery. It came in a very cute delivery plastic bag with my food neatly packed and secured. The greatest part is my food arrived warm.

IMG_8591ed

Check out the spread of food I have ordered from Indian Curry House. The Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken, Baingan Bharta are packed in plastic containers while the Butter Naan is wrapped in aluminium foil.

The warm Butter Naan was really good and fluffy. The naan goes excellently with the Butter Chicken and Baingan Bharta packed with aromatic spices.

Not seen in the picture is the chicken pieces and a hard boiled egg underneath the pile of fluffy basmati rice. This is definitely one delicious Northern Indian feast. The Food Panda App has made home food delivery is a one simple and seamlessly easy.

Spinacas - Hearty Salad Delivery

IMG_8174ed

Hearty salad delivered to your doorsteps. Spinacas is the latest delivery service started by Phyllis zipping around the roads in Singapore with her little red vespa.

IMG_8175ed

Today I am trying Morrocan Spiced Chicken Salad which consists of baby spinach and chicken cubes marinated for 12 hours with fiery Middle Eastern spice blend and sauteed to juicy perfection. It is topped with honey cherry tomatoes, broccoli, hard boiled egg, cheddar cheese, nuts and grapes, dressed in extra virgin oil, salt & pepper.

IMG_8177ed
Morrocan Spiced Chicken Salad 4.5/5

I like the fact that the dressing and sauteed chicken are packed separately. Eating healthy does not mean just piles of greens. Paired with the spicy Morrocan chicken, this has made salad eating for fun and delicious.

IMG_8180ed

Currently on the delivery menu, there are seven delectable and healthy salads such as the Chilli Con Carne (beef) Salad, Honey Soy Chicken Salad, Vegetarian Tofu Patties Salad, Vegetarian Ratatouille Salad, Homemade Pork Balls Salad, BBQ Pulled Pork Salad and the Morrocan Spiced Chicken Salad which I tried. These salads start from $9 with options of add ons at extra cost.

Durian Fiesta 2015 @ Goodwood Park Hotel

IMG_9097ed

The annual eagerly await Durian Fiesta at Goodwood Park Hotel is back again from 16 March to 2 August 2015. And this year is the biggest durian fiesta ever with six new creations to form a formidable line up of durian-centric goodies this year, twice as many as previous years.

IMG_9109ed

The new creations, all teeming with intense D24 durian goodness, include the Durian Rainbow Ice Cream Cake, a multi-coloured confection. The Durian Carrot-Walnut Cake, a traditional bake frosted with pulpy durian cream in lieu of the typical cream cheese. Offering oodles of pleasure in innocuously dainty forms are the Durian Macarons and Mini Durian Chocolate Wafer Rolls.

IMG_9104ed

From 16 March to 2 August 2015, these novel delights can be purchased at the hotel's Deli, along with the other iconic signature items such as the Durian Puff, Durian Mousse Cake, Durian Strudel, Durian Crepe and D24 or Mao Shan Wang Durian Ice Cream. Most noteworthy is the return of the Durian Cappuccino Cake, back by popular demand after a three year absence.

IMG_9100ed

Among the slew of fresh innovations and returning favourites, the spotlight falls on the Mao Shan Wang Horn, a nostalgic throwback in the 60s. The conical pastry filled with creamy durian pulp is an inspired spin on old school cream horns, a popular offering in local neighbourhood bakeries then. This limited edition treat will be available at the Deli with the Mao Shan Power Puff, a jumbo sized profiterole from 30 May to 2 August 2015.

IMG_9102ed

From 30 May to 2 August 2015, Coffee Lounge will also be servicing its much lauded Dessert buffet with durian pastries during lunch and dinner.

Dessert Buffet with Durian Pastries only - $35.80++ per pax
Top-up of Dessert Buffet with Durian Pastries with any a la carte main course order - $28.80++

San Pellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages

IMG_7500ed

All these years I only know of San Pellegrino because of their sparkling mineral water. I have not known that they have a range of Sparkling Fruit Beverages too. The finest lemons and oranges are selected, ripened in the sun of the cast groves of Southern Italy, and then picked by hand at specific harvest time. What is even more interesting is that it has a history dated all the way back to 1932.

IMG_7506ed

The San Pellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverage comes in 5 different flavours. They are namely Aranciata Rossa, Chinotto, Aranciata, Limonata and the newly introduced Pompelmo "Grapefruit". The Pompelmo is a new released flavour tat contains 16% fruit juice and is made from the finest pure Sicilian grapefruit juice which exhibits a bitter sweet, zesty taste to refresh and quench thirst.

IMG_7508ed

I also noted the little details in the San Pellegrino packaging for the 330ml aluminium can drink. It comes with a exclusive foil cover lid that protects the top of the can from dust and dirt, and is 100% recyclable.

IMG_7514ed

The Sparkling Fruit beverages are all made with only pure fruit juice and natural ingredients with no preservatives.

IMG_7517ed

The radiance of Italian citrus fruits, the sweetness and deliciousness of their juice, and their fragrance are the essential ingredients of San Pellegrino Sparkling Fruit Beverages which is the key to its success.

Tip Top Curry Puff

IMG_7451ed

Many who stays in the Ang Mo Kio may know of the popular Tip Top Curry Puff brand which was originally founded by Mr Looi back in 1979. Since then there was no looking back for the business as it grown and become a popular brand in Singapore. From a humble stall in a coffeeshop in Ang Mo Kio, Tip Top has partnered with ABR Holdings Ltd and expanded their foot prints across the island. To date, Tip Top has 5 outlets in Singapore, including a cafe. It also has plan in 2015 to open more outlets.

IMG_7456ed
Chicken Curry Puff 3.8/5

What made Tip Top popular is their Chicken Curry Puff ($1.40/pc) that comes with bites of curry potato, curry chicken meat and hard boiled egg. After tasting the chicken curry puff, what I enjoyed was the buttery and flaky crust, and the curry paste that consists of 18 different spices. On the down side, I was missing the solid bites of potato and chunky chicken meat. I was more like I was eating a paste mixture.

IMG_7458ed
Nonya Beef Rendang Puff 3/5

In business, we need progression and it is the same for food to cater for the ever changing taste. Planning to create the next curry wave, Tip Top has introduced the new Nonya Beef Rendang Puff ($1.60/pc). Wrapped in the signature flaky and buttery crust, the beef is simmered in a mix of spices for long hours, resulting in a rich and intense flavours. I like the concept but I think it still needs a couple of fine tuning to get the balance right.

IMG_7461ed
Nonya Beef Rendang Puff 3/5

Besides the popular chicken curry puff and the new nonya beef rendang puff, Tip Top also offers the Sardine Curry Puff ($1.40/pc) that comes with caramelized onions and savoury sardines. Though I found the filling was on the salty side, the added heat from the chilli and chilli padi gave it a nice spicy kick.

Withlocals - Eat with Locals

xcwr3cbcfzzoh9rk8yzm

Recently I came across this website called the Withlocals which I thought it was really cool. Under the website you can choose to Eat Withlocals, Tour Withlocals and Activities Withlocals. You can either register to be a host or a guest. I thought this is really an interesting concept whereby you get to experience the local culture with a local family. So example, if you are on a trip to Thailand, you can choose to eat, tour or involve in an activity with your local host.

IMG_5171ed
Vegetable Fritters

To understand and experience this innovative concept, I gathered my foodie friends, Ian and Si Han to Eat Withlocals in Singapore. I decided to visit Beena who has registered to be a host in Singapore. Being a foodie and blogger, I thought it would be interesting to experience and learn about Indian cuisine which is not my forte.

IMG_5172ed
Vegetable Fritters

The build up to the actual day is actually quite mixed. We do not know what to expect but at the same timing looking forward to meet the host and try her cooking. As I am visiting someone's home, I bought a box of chocolate for the host. We started with brief introduction of ourselves and what we do for a living to get to know one another better. Things started to warm up a bit more with the wines and when the Vegetable Fritters were served.

IMG_5175ed
Puri

Soon dinner was served and Beena cooked us a feast. Beena is an excellent cook and she is one that cooks from scratch. Besides rice, Beena also prepared Indian Puri. She made her own dough and then deep fried them. The puri bread was so good that Si Han asked for the recipe.

IMG_5177ed
Potato

I have been cutting down on my carbo intake but the Potato made by Beena was so good that I could not help going back for more. Ian even made the comment that how he wishes all curry puff is stuffed with this beautiful potato fillings.

IMG_5180ed
Dal

A staple Indian dish is the Dal which can be eaten with either rice or roti. A lot of Indians are vegetarian and this provides the main source of proteins. To be frank, I think I can just eat the whole bowl by itself without the rice or roti. Dal is similar to baked beans in my own context.

IMG_5173ed
Chicken

Beena also prepared a Chicken and Prawn dish to complete the dinner experience. I think Beena was afraid that we cannot handle spicy so she has toned down the spiciness. Nevertheless, the dishes were just as beautiful with the play of different spices lingering on the palate.

IMG_5174ed
Prawn

Wrapping up the wonderful night is a warm dessert prepared by Beena's hubby. Pardon me for my bad memory but if I am not wrong the dessert is called Sooji Ka Halwa, made with ghee, semolina and cashews. Usually Indian dessert are very sweet and I was glad that this was done less sweet which is perfect for me. The textures of the dessert tasted like having couscous coated with honey sweetness.

IMG_5182ed

All the three of us left Beena's place with a smile on our face and a satisfied tummy. We really appreciate Beena opening her place for us and cooked us such a wonderful feast. More so that she cooks from her heart and prepared everything from scratch. How I wish she would be my neighbour and I could go over to her place to have my meal everyday. Thank you Beena, you have been a great host.

Thai Village Mooncake 2014

IMG_5277ed

Since we last visit to Thai Village at Indoor Stadium, the restaurant seems to be able to spring up another surprise for me. Besides the yummy Thai Teochew cuisine the restaurant offers, it never occurs to me that the restaurant also sells mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

IMG_5283ed

I have tried many durian mooncakes and I find that Thai Village is really thoughtful with the styrofoam box besides the packaging. As we all know not all people likes the smell of durian and this can help seal the smell while keeping it temporary chilled for takeaway.

IMG_5289ed

Thai Village Snowskin Mao Shan Wang Durian Mooncake ($60+ for 8pc) is made using 100% durian paste without preservatives. The bite size mini mooncake with its creamy durian paste felt exactly as if one is having the real fruit.

IMG_5292ed

For those that prefer the traditional baked mooncakes, Thai Village also offers the White Lotus Seed Paste ($46+ for 4 c), White Lotus Seed Paste with Double Yolks ($48+ for 4pc), Pandan Lotus Seed Paste with Double Yolks ($48+ for 4pc) and Traditional Assorted Nuts ($48+ for 4pc).
