Tamako Meal @ Casuarina Road

Tamako Meal serves hearty and comfort Japanese food. This homely restaurant at Casuarina Road has been around for more than 10 years. I used to frequent this humble establishment when I was working at Sembawang Airbase.

The Tonkatsu Curry was nothing to wow about but definitely gave a home cooked feel. The Tonkatsu was interestingly sliced but in a pathetic way. Nevertheless, the Tonkatsu was moist and tender.

The Potato Salad is a best try by many reviewers. I have to agreed with double thumbs up.

The grilled Unagi was well marinated and fat. Love the way it was served with 2 runny egg yolks.
Breaking the egg yolks and mixing together with the rice and the sweet sauce coated each grain nicely with sweetness.

The Saba Fish was fresh and grilled perfectly with a nice crisp to the skin.

Biscuit King @ Casuarina Road

Stepping into Biscuit King is like walking back into history with a display of traditional biscuit tins on one side of the wall. On the other side is more modern packaging in plastic tubs. The shop itself is like a little museum where you can find a lot of traditional biscuits as well as childhood toys and candies.

There are almost a hundred types of biscuit varieties available at Biscuit Kings. I can't resist buying some of the childhood treats after browsing through all the different biscuits available at Biscuit King. I bought Chocolate Wafer, Ais Gem and Sesame Biscuit.

Canopy Garden Dining & Bar @ Bishan Park

I love the ambient at Canopy Garden Dining & Bar. It offers a unique dining experience in a peaceful garden setting providing the perfect getaway from the urbanized Singapore.

The Caesar Salad had romaine lettuce tossed with anchovy dressing topped with crispy bacon, poached egg, parmesan and crisp garlic toast. It was light, fresh and refreshing.

The Green Curry Pasta with Pepper Chicken came with linguine tossed with spicy homemade green curry sauce topped with peppered chicken, cherry tomato and fresh rocket. The fusion between Thai and Italian was interesting and nice. The pasta was very tasty with the green curry flavour.

The Lobster Pomodoro was spaghetti tossed with lobster meat and rich vine tomato sauce. Lovely tomato sauce and nicely cooked pasta.

Bak Chor Mee @ S-11 AMK Central Food House

Bak Chor Mee is a very common dish where one can find in almost any corner of Singapore and it is eaten any time of the day. The unique thing about this stall are the ingredients used. Three things stood out,

1) Marinated Minced Meat (Bak Chor)
2) Fried Wanton with Minced Meat fillings
3) Fried Meat Ball

Unlike normal Bak Chor Mee, this stall used marinated minced meat. The fried meat ball and wanton are popular too. Some customers even ordered a separate plate of the fried meat ball and wanton.

A little side track of my post as I was amused by the herbal tea brand I ordered from the food house. It is my first time to come across this interesting brand of herbal tea.
