Geylang Claypot Rice @ Geylang

It was a dinner gathering with my colleagues. Apparently the group wanted to visit this place quite a while back but never got the opportunity. The food ordering was done by one of our colleagues who has eaten here several times. There were 10 of us and we have quite a feast.

The Pork Ribs were well cooked and tasted good in the sweet sauce.

The Lotus Root Duck was probably the favourite for all of us. The duck meat was moist, tender and cooked perfectly.

The rest of the dishes were also pretty good. I was really satisfied with the standard of the food served.

The main highlight was the Claypot Rice. We requested the server to separate the ingredients and mix the dark sweet sauce for the rice. The Claypot Rice had chicken, chinese sausages and salted fish. Unfortunately the Claypot was not my favourite. I think the rice lacked the fragrant and texture.

He Ji Bao (和记包) @ Serangoon NEX

The little eatery is located at the basement of Nex Shopping Mall. I never know that He Ji Bao sells cooked food besides Dim Sum.

The Wanton Noodle was pretty good. I like the texture of the noodle but the wanton was disappointing.

The Chicken Feet and Chee Cheong Fan was another disappointment. The Chicken Feet was soaky and it tasted like it had been prepared and left for a long time. The Chee Cheong Fan was also pre-prepared, soaky and not appetizing.

Fortunately the bun was good. It was my first time having a vegetable bun. I really enjoyed the taste and the different textures from the bun.

The Mushroom Pot @ Indoor Stadium

The Mushroom Pot is well known for its mushroom soup hot pot with more than 20 types of wild mushrooms, fresh seafood and meat selections. However, I decided to go for the ala carte menu instead.

The Golden Mushroom wrapped with Beef slices was a bit salty but was well cooked. It is a common dish but the combination of golden mushroom and beef is like a marriage made in heaven. This dish simply was a delight with a bowl of rice.

The Stir Fried Rice Cake was a tradition dish with a modern twist. The texture of the rice cake was firm and nice with the mushroom fragrant.

The Fried Beancurd Skin had a nice and thick fish paste. Although it was deep fried, it was not too oily. The dipping sauce was a good complement to the dish.
