RacinesCNY23-13
Lap Mei Fan 4.5/5

The Lap Mei Fan is well-flavoured from the waxed meat and Chinese sausage. A hearty dish packed with beautiful flavours. Give the steamed rice a drizzle of the superior soy sauce to perk up the enjoyment.

RacinesCNY23-17
Deep Fried Cod Fish with Hot Bean Sauce 4.2/5

The Deep Fried Cod Fish is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The delicious hot bean sauce complements the buttery cod fish excellently.

RacinesCNY23-22

Spice Brasserie @ Parkroyal on Kitchener Road - Lunch 茶 Buffet

IMG_8870

Spice Brasserie at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road has recently launched Lunch 茶. In just one seating of four hours long and at one price, you get to indulge in a lunch buffet, followed by an afternoon tea set. The buffet offers a line up of Malaysia and Singapore inspired dishes that warm you up with familiar tastes and flavours.

IMG_8841
Braised Black Vinegar Trotter 4/5

I was surprised to find a very homely dish - Braised Black Vinegar Trotter. Bringing flavours from his hometown, Penang, Executive Sous Chef Patrick Ooi uses Gula melaka in his recipe to develop his version of this family classic. The perfectly braised egg is a star of its own too.

IMG_8909
Penang Fried Kway Tiao & Carrot Cake 4/5

Other notable dishes from his hometown include Penang Fried Kway Tiao and Carrot Cake, and if you drop by for the weekday lunch buffet, there will be Penang Assam Laksa as well.

IMG_8851
DIY Popiah station

One of the highlights of this buffet is the DIY Popiah station - The turnips was very well stewed with dried shrimps and mushrooms, alongside fluffy shredded eggs and crunchy beansprouts.

IMG_8868
DIY Rojak

I had a lot of fun at the DIY Rojak station too, that is filled with chopped juicy pineapples, cucumbers, green mangos, turnips, crunchy youtiaos and beancurd skin.

IMG_8853

The buffet line also comes with a live Pratas and Naans station, serving robust fish curry and rich butter chicken. Right beside it is the station where you can order a handpulled Teh Tarik to complement your warm and fluffy pratas and naans.

IMG_8829
Chee Cheong Fun

IMG_8832
Lo Mai Kai

Other delights include local style dim sum such as Chee Cheong Fun, which is one of our favourites among the dishes, as well as Lo Mai Kai.

IMG_8907
DIY Muah Chee

There's even a Muah Chee station too, in which you can simply load your plate with heaps of the well roasted crushed peanuts!

IMG_8897

This new Lunch 茶 (pronounced as Lunch-‘cha’) buffet serves you an Afternoon 茶 Set after the lunch buffet ends at 230pm, which allows you to continue to chill with your loved ones till 4pm. Each set comes with free flow of tea and coffee. Featuring Asian sweets such as Nonya Kuehs, you will also get interesting creations such as Portuguese Durian Egg Tarts.

IMG_8894

The Saturdays and Sundays Lunch 茶 Buffet is priced at $45 nett per person.

The lower tier is the sweet section that comes with Baked Orange Egg Tarts, Black Sesame Cake and Molten Salted Egg Lava Mochi. Famed for its authentic Sichuan and Cantonese fare, Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant at PARKROYAL on Beach Road is excited to present its 点点心意 'Treats from the Heart' Weekend A La Carte Dim Sum Buffet available for a limited time from 3 July to 27 September 2020 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 1130am to 2pm.

The special brunch menu features unlimited servings of classic Cantonese, as well as Sichuan appetisers, nourishing soups and desserts, alongside single-serving of dim sum specialities.

SiChuanDouHua24

For appetisers, we had the classic Si Chuan platter of Chilled Chicken with Mala sauce, Sliced Pork in Garlic and Chilli Sauce, Cucumber with Black Vinegar and Soya Sauce, Sliced Pig Ear in Sichuan Pepper Sauce, Long Beans in Ginger Sauce, and Marinated Black Fungus with Chilli Padi.

SiChuanDouHua16

The dim sum specialities include nine exqusitely-prepared choices, which comes with one serving for each person. The selections consist of Deep-Fried Fluffy Swan Pastry with Foie Gras, Steamed Sea Urchin 'Siew Mai', Baked Abalone BBQ Pork Pastry, Steamed Crabmeat Xiao Long Bao, Steamed Lobster Dumpling, Steamed Mushroom Bun with Minced Chicken, Steamed Scallop Dumpling, Steamed Dumpling with Seafood in Clear Soup, Baked Mini Egg Tart with Bird's Nest.

We had the Deep-Fried Fluffy Swan Pastry with Foie Gras, presented in a gorgeous swan-like shape which was an instant hit when it was first introduced in the restaurant's Lunar New Year Reunion Imperial High Tea Set.

SiChuanDouHua14

They have also elevated the classic Steamed 'Siew Mai' with Sea Urchin. This levelled-up version adds a briny creaminess and sweetness to the regular siew mai we are used to having, bringing luxury to every bite.

SiChuanDouHua19

Other delicacies include the Steamed Dumpling with Seafood in Clear Soup, which consists of a huge dumpling filled with seafood such as prawn and abalone.

SiChuanDouHua21

We loved the Baked Mini Egg Tart with Bird's Nest, which comes with a generous serving of the nourishing delicacy atop the egg tart.

SiChuanDouHua25

SiChuanDouHua12

Not to be missed is the Steamed Crabmeat Xiao Long Bao, and the Steamed Mushroom Bun with Minced Chicken, which is soft fluffy bun aptly shaped like a mushroom and consists of fragrant mushroom fillings within.

Besides the 9 single-serve choices of the premium dim sum specialities, they also serve unlimited portions of the other 26 choices such as the Steamed BBQ Pork Bun, Pan-Fried Carrot Cake, and the Minced Meat Dumpling with Sour and Spicy Sauce. Celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day at Crystal Jade Restaurants

CrystalJade20

With the upcoming Mother's Day and Father's Day in May and June. Crystal Jade Restaurants will be launching several promotions at its group of restaurants for this two months. A line up of thoughtfully crafted dishes and tantalising set menus to celebrate the occasions.

CrystalJade1
Pan Seared Foie Gras with Crispy Beancurd wrapped with Crepe 4/5

Probably inspired by the way we have Peking duck is the Pan Seared Foie Gras with Crispy Beancurd wrapped with Crepe ($16.80/pax). I find this combination much better than Peking duck. The creaminess of the foie gras gives it a substantial bite while I though the crispy beancurd is a good substitute of the crispiness duck skin. This dish will be available at Crystal Jade Palace which has re-opened in early June after a major renovation,

CrystalJade15
Supreme Fried Rice with Prawn, Bacon and Lychee wrapped in Lotus Leaf 3.5/5

Another dish available at Crystal Jade Palace is the Supreme Fried Rice with Prawn, Bacon and Lychee wrapped in Lotus Leaf ($30). The fried rice is wok fried to fragrant with the egg aroma. However the sweetness from the lychee in the savoury dish needs getting use to.

CrystalJade5
Double Boiled Giant Grouper Head with Ginger and Premium Nan Zao 3.8/5

Over at One-Michelin Crystal Jade Golden Palace, look forward to a bowl of nourishing and collagen rich Double Boiled Giant Grouper Head with Ginger and Premium Nan Zao ($22/pax). The giant grouper is prized for its high collagen content while the Nan Zao also known as black date has several health such as enhancing the digestive system, keeping blood pressure normal, high in vitamin C and more.

CrystalJade8

Deep Fried Groupa Fillet with Prawn Paste tossed with Crispy Garlic 4.2/5

One of our favourite dishes is the Deep Fried Groupa Fillet with Prawn Paste tossed with Crispy Garlic ($26.80 for 4pc) available at both Crystal Jade Kitchen and Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. The prawn paste gives the generous pieces of grouper fillet an addition crunch in texture complemented by the crispy garlic that has been tossed with curry leaves and sliced chillis.

CrystalJade10
Deep Fried Yellow Croaker with Sweet Vinegar Sauce and Pine Nuts 4.2/5

Over at their newest concept Crystal Jade Jiang Nan, one can look froward to the Deep Fried Yellow Croaker with Sweet Vinegar Sauce and Pine Nuts ($29.80). This is a classic Jiangsu dish in which the deep fried fish is cloaked in an appetising sauce concocted with vinegar, hawthorn and red wine lees.

CrystalJade12
Chargrilled Iberico Pork Rib 4/5

There are also some items that is available at all the three Crystal Jade fine-dining (Crystal Jade Palace, Crystal Jade Golden Palace and Crystal Jade Dining In). One of these is the Chargrilled Iberico Park Rib ($26.80 per portion). To appreciate the dish, one needs to dip the tender pork with the piquant mala dip.

CrystalJade18
Creme Brulee Ginger Egg Tart Topped with Bird's Nest 4/5

Exquisitely crafted is the Creme Brulee Ginger Egg Tart Topped with Bird's Nest ($6.80/pc) and Lychee Begonia Flower-Shaped Pastry ($11.80 for 3pc). The egg tart with its caramelised surface is an inventive take of the traditional snack. While I applauded the crowning of bird's nest, it didn't really help to elevate the flavour. As for the lychee begonia flower-shaped pastry, lotus paste is filled inside the flaky pastry.

CrystalJade23
Lychee Begonia Flower-Shaped Pastry 3.5/5

During the promotional periods, diners who dine at Crystal Jade Jiang Nan, Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao and Crystal Jade Kitchen will receive origami paper with instructions to fold an origami tuip to present to their parents. Customer who share a photo of the completed tulip origami with any Parent's Day special dish on instagram will stand a chance to be one of five lucky winners to win $100 Crystal Jade Dining voucher. Those who also share a memory of their first gift to their mum or dad in the caption of the post will receive double the chance to win.

AquaMarine @ Marina Mandarin Hotel Singapore - Old School Hong Kong Delights

AquaMarine14

For a limited period from 5 April to 30 April 2019, AquaMarine at Marina Mandarin Hotel Singapore will be offering Hong Kong cuisine of yesteryear to their Halal-certified buffet. The buffet spread will consists old school Hong Kong delights such as quail egg siew mai, braised beef rib with mui choy, claypot lamb brisket with bamboo shoot and more.

AquaMarine20
Chui Chow Oyster Porridge 4.2/5

Warm up the stomach with a bowl of comforting Chui Chow Oyster Porridge. The addition of fresh oyster provided the additional boost to the flavourful broth while the rice puff gives it a delightful finishing crisp.

AquaMarine6

AquaMarine3

AquaMarine28
Hong Kong Cart Noodle 4.2/5

A must try is the Hong Kong Cart Noodle, a popular street food originating in the 1950s. What stand out is the superb broth that is packed with depth and robustness. The beauty of cart noodle is that one can add anything into their bowl of noodle, and this comes with the choice of braised chicken wing, curry fishball, cuttlefish and braised beef. I love this so much that I gone back for a second helping.

AquaMarine9
Quail Egg Siew Mai 3.5/5

AquaMarine24
Pan Fried Abalone Cheong Fun with XO Sauce 4/5

Hong Kong cuisine is known for the dim sum and its inevitable that these needs to be on the buffet spread. The Quail Egg Siew Mai is a traditional dim sum that is hardly seen on the menu nowadays. My favourite goes to to the Pan Fried Abalone Cheong Fun with XO Sauce for its wok-hei, complemented by the excellent XO sauce.

AquaMarine29
Baby Lobster in "Bi Feng Tang" Style 3.8/5

Only available during dinner is the Baby Lobster in "Bi Feng Tang" Style. The bouncy flesh of the baby lobster is coated with lots of garlic, ginger, chilli and spring onion for an aromatic finish.

AquaMarine26
Braised Beef Rib with "Mui Choy" 3.8/5

While the Braised Beef Rib with "Mui Choy" is cooked until very tender, I feel that the braised beef rib shines on its own even without the accompanying Mui Choy.

AquaMarine15
Egg Waffle 3.5/5

For the dessert section, you can also find popular and traditional Hong Kong street snacks such as Egg Waffle, Hong Kong Red Bean Pudding, Bolo Bao, Egg Tart and Walnut Cookies. Let you into a secret, I like to have the egg waffle together with the durian pengat. It is just an heavenly combination.

AquaMarine31
Hong Kong Red Bean Rice Pudding, Bolo Bun, Egg Tart, Walnut Cookies

I would also recommend getting a cup of Hong Kong Milk Tea to go along with the desserts. It is a good chance of the usual kuehs and cakes on the dessert line.

AquaMarine18

Pricing
$60++ per adult and $30++ per child for lunch daily
$73++ per adult and $36.50++ per child for dinner Monday to Thursday
