Tonkichi is famous for its Tonkastu. Tonkatsu means pork cutlet ( "ton" - pork , "katsu" - cutlet). There are also 2 types of cuts for katsu. Hire (pork fillet) and Rosu (pork loin). Rosu katsu are fatter than hire. For the first timer, you may wonder why they served you a bowl of sesame. It is for your tonkastu dip. Grind the sesame seeds into powder form then pour the tonkatsu sauce. You can add a bit of yellow karashi (japanese mustard) into the dip if you prefer some spiciness.

We ordered the Hire Katsu Set and Oyster & Rosu Katsu Set. The set came with a bowl of miso soup, japanese rice, yellow pickles, cabbage and your katsu. By the way, the cabbage is free flow.

Kichi Kichi @ City Square Mall

I am back at Kichi Kichi again! I have five friends with me and hence we we were given a bigger table. We ordered Chicken, Sichuan, Tom Yam and Mushroom broths for the hotpot. With more people, I got to sample more food this round. Unfortunately I only got to eat a plate of my favourite mochi. The take away from the 2nd visit was to pre-order the mochi with the waitress as the chef needed time to prepare it.

Go Go Curry @ ION Orchard

The big gorilla poster always caught my attention whenever I walked passed the stall. The stall offers 5 different type of curry rice set and it came in Healthy, Economy, Business and First Class portions (size) depending on your appetite. The stall offers limited choices of drinks and they do not serve ice water.

I ordered the chicken katsu curry. The chicken katsu is tender and juicy. The curry was mildly spicy which went very well with the Japanese sticky rice.
