Wooloomooloo Steakhouse @ Maker's Mark 3-Course Festive Set Lunch Menu For Only $48++

Wooloomooloo44

For the upcoming festive period from 26 November to 30 December 2020, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse is launching a special weekday 3-course set lunch menu with Marker's Mark, the premium handcrafted bourbon whisky from Kentucky, USA. The 3-course lunch menu priced at $48++ consists of an appetiser, main course and dessert. The menu will showcase a few dishes incorporating Marker's Mark in them.

Wooloomooloo23
Make It Mine 4.2/5

Wooloomooloo20
Warm Christmas Chocolate 4/5

Before proceeding to lunch proper, you can start with a few glasses of  Maker's Mark festive cocktails, swinging into the festive mood. Make It Mine is a refreshing citrusy cocktail with pleasant notes of cinnamon. For something warm and soothing, opt for the Warm Christmas Chocolate.

Wooloomooloo1
Onion Focaccia 4.2/5

Upon settling down at the table, complimentary freshly baked Onion Focaccia with caramelised onions with whipped butter at the side was served. The focaccia was warm, airy and fluffy with a hint of oregano.

Wooloomooloo10
Flammekueche 4/5

For the first course, diners can choose from the Flammekueche, Roasted Carrot & Parsnip Soup or Wooloomooloo Salad. The Flammekueche is a delectable pastry tart with butter-poached onions, crowned with applewood smoked bacon and creme fraiche.

Wooloomooloo7
Roasted Carrot & Parsnip Soup 4/5

The Roasted Carrot & Parsnip Soup is a hearty and comforting starter, whetting the appetite. The flavourful soup even comes with brown butter croutons and crab floss for that extra textural contrast.

Wooloomooloo13
Wooloomooloo Salad 4/5

My personal favourite among the three starters is the Wooloomooloo Salad. Not only is it tasty, but it is also value for money with tender filet mignon, spinach, mushrooms and black truffle. What I really applaud is the tangy dressing that brings everything together.

Wooloomooloo25
Maple-Glazed Salmon 4/5

Moving to the mains, diners have a choice from the Maple-Glazed Salmon, Tiger Prawn Fettuccine, Snake River Farms Pork Chop, Great Southern Pinnacle Australian Grass Fed Sirloin and Morgan Ranch 300-day Grain Fed USDA Prime Rib Eye (addition $20++).

Wooloomooloo36
Tiger Prawn Fettuccine 3.8/5

Wooloomooloo Steakhouse is famed for their steaks, but it does offer other yummy items for the non-beef eater. Seafood lover will rejoice in the delicious Maple-Glazed Salmon. The salmon is cooked to a beautiful pink with a layer of crispy caramelised skin from the glazed maple. Another seafood option is the Tiger Prawn Fettuccine, tossed in homemade pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts and parmesan paired with crunchy tiger prawns.

Wooloomooloo32
Snake River Farms Pork Chop 4.2/5

No surprise, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse does a good pork chop too. Their Snake River Farms Pork Chop glazed with miso is tender and juicy. Paired it with apple compote for elevated enjoyment.

Wooloomooloo42
USDA Prime Rib Eye 4.5/5

Wooloomooloo49

Not to be missed is the steak at Wooloomooloo Steakhouse. We had the Morgan Ranch 300-day Grain Fed USDA Prime Rib Eye (additional $20++) that comes with honey-roasted parsnips, truffle mash potatoes and charred broccoli. The Chef has also specially concocted the Maker's Mark peppercorn sauce to complement the beautifully grilled piece of steak.

Wooloomooloo57
Pecan Pie 4/5

Last but not least, diners can choose between two beautiful desserts - Pecan Pie or Apple Frangipane Tart to complete the 3-course meal. The Pecan Pie's sweetness and nuttiness work harmoniously with the signature caramel and notes from Mark's Marker cream for enhanced enjoyment. The Apple Frangipane Tart layered with slices of granny smith apple, is another delightful dessert that will sweeten your day.

Wooloomooloo53
Apple Frangipane Tart 4/5

The Marker's Mark 3-Course Festive Lunch Set Menu at Wooloomooloo Steakhouse will be available on weekdays from 26 November to 30 December 2020, excluding weekends, 24 and 25 December 2020. I personally find that for $48++ this is a sell, especially if you enjoy having a nice steak for lunch.

Imakatsu @ Tanjong Pagar Centre - Special Hokkaido Pork Set For Limited Period

Imakatsu7

Awarded Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2015, Imakatsu at Tanjong Pagar Centre has recently launched a Special Hokkaido Pork Set for a limited period, from 1 November to 31 December 2019. The special set menu will only be available during dinner, and it is limited to first 15 customers each day.

Imakatsu9

The Special Hokkaido Port Set ($23++) comes with 120g of Hokkaido Pork Katsu, Hokkaido Pork Stewed, Salmon Miso Soup, Hokkaido Rice and Cabbage.

Imakatsu20
Hokkaido Pork Katsu

What makes the pork cutlet at Imakatsu so tender and juicy is their cooking method. Instead of deep-frying in hot temperature, the restaurant takes its time to fry it at low temperature. It ensures the pork remains tender and juicy. It is then allowed to rest longer than usual, cooking in its own steam. By doing so, excess oil is dripped off and allowing the juice of the meat to settle, enhancing the texture. The other highlight of their katsu, is the light and airy breadcrumb. It gives the pork katsu a delightfully crunchy bite.

Imakatsu15
Hokkaido Pork Stewed

The beauty of the set is that it allows diners to enjoy the Hokkaido pork in 2 ways. Besides deep-frying, you have it stewed.

Imakatsu16
Salmon Miso Soup

Imakatsu24
Fresh Cabbage

The value for money set comes with a bowl of miso soup with chunks of salmon in it. That is quite a sell as most restaurants serve their miso soup without any ingredients in it. Not to forget the free flow fresh cabbage that comes along with the Special Hokkaido Pork Set too.

Imakatsu25
Unatama Don

Imakatsu30

It is not just all about katsu at Imakatsu. The restaurant also offers several rice bowl dishes, katsu curry and udon on their menu. One of my favourite items, when I am not in the mood for fried food, is their Unatama Don Set ($18++). The rice bowl comes with tender pieces of unagi and a poached egg. Completing the set is free refill fresh cabbage, miso soup and pickles.

Imakatsu31

Last but not least, hitting the home run for me is the Japanese premium Koshihikari rice. The beautifully cooked fluffy short grain rice is soft and goes perfectly well with the tonkatsu.

Starker Signature @ Holland Village – For Authentic German-style Fresh Brews And Delicious Bar Grubs

blogpost header

Nestled within the heart of Holland Village is Starker Signature, a casual bar serving authentic German brew, and probably one of the best authentic hotspot known for their top notch friendly staff and laid-back vibes among the multiple Starker Group outlets across the island. Here, it offers a variety of incredible Starker Fresh Brews with a 7 days shelf policy, and an even wider selection of food items such as their signature roasts, mains and bar grubs to complement the ice-cold beer and further accentuate the fresh brew drinking experience for their diners.

flatlay1

The main highlight at Starker is undeniably their fresh beer - Adopting the traditional German-brewing techniques using the finest European ingredients from milling to fermentation, Starker aims to deliver unfiltered and unpasteurized quality German-style craft beer served icy cold straight from the barrel, and with a strict 7-days shelf life to guarantee absolute freshness. Starring their 5 unique brews: Lager, Dunkel, Charcoal, Aromatic and Lychee. All these award-winning beers, from the sweet Lychee to the smokier Charcoal, are freshly brewed in-house and served the traditional way for beer connoisseurs.

Starker Ale
Starker Ale 4.2/5

Starker has recently launched a new beer - Ale. Brewed from specially selected caramelised malts using top fermentation, the Ale is lusciously vibrant-coloured and boasts a mild fruity aftertaste, constituting a refreshing beer with a nice crisp finish that will leave you wanting for more.

Great news! If you're looking to chill out with your loved ones this Friday, look no further as you can now settle your TGIF plans with Stärker - Starker will be giving away 600 half-pints of Ale every Friday from 6pm onwards at different Stärker outlets till 2 Feb 2018. Do note that each customer is limited to only one half-pint beer per day.

5 Jan 2018: Stärker Signature Holland Village
12 Jan 2018: Stärker Bistro Katong Square
19 Jan 2018: Stärker Music Zhongshan Park
26 Jan 2018: Stärker Bistro HillV2
2 Feb 2018: Stärker Signature Tanjong Pagar Centre

If you’re looking for some unique brews, Starker serves a pretty fancy range of fresh brew catering to the preferences of different customers.

Starker Lychee, Ale, Charcoal
Starker Lychee 4.2/5 and Starker Charcoal 4.2/5

What is a trip to Starker without having a round of their renowned beer? For something lighter, go for their Starker Lychee (half-pint $8.90/one-pint $16.90/2L barrel $63.90/5L barrel $148), a medium bodied beer with a distinctive Belgium lychee fragrance. Brewed with a unique mix of wheat malts and 100% lychee extract, it is refreshingly light with a subtle fruity aftertaste and a hint of tartness. Best paired with fresh succulent seafood, salad or pasta.

The Starker Charcoal (half-pint $8.90/one-pint $16.90/2L barrel $63.90/5L barrel $148) is a fuller bodied dark beer with a more intense and robust body. Brewed from crystal and dark roasted malt, it boasts an edging bitterness and leaves a distinctive aftertaste with a hint of coffee. Best paired with Starker's signature roasts or burger.

Starker Gamabas Spanish Style2

Even the best beers don't sit so well on empty stomachs, so be prepared to indulge in their extensive selection of unpretentious grubs with a beer or two in hand.

Starker pork knuckles1
Traditional Pork Knuckle 4.5/5

The Traditional Pork Knuckle ($38.80) features a huge portion of pork knuckles (serve 3-4 pax) marinated with Starker secret spice recipe and roasted to a perfectly crisp exterior, with tender juicy meat within that boasts a decent firmness in each bite. Served with a side of creamy mash, Starker beer sauce and house salad, as well as crispy freshly cut onion strips, battered and golden-fried, each of these complements contribute to the flavour and textural interplay of the dish, yet not overshadowing the perfectly executed pork knuckles.

Starker roast pork belly1
Roasted Pork Belly 4.5/5

The Roasted Pork Belly ($14.80) comes in a plate of generously portioned sliced pork belly, with a half-half ratio of tender meats and fats that boasts a melt-in-the-mouth consistency, and roasted to a perfect crackling texture for its thin golden crisp outer skin layer. Served with vinegary French mustard and sourish sauerkraut (pickled cabbage) for a more flavorous addition, though the pork belly has already shone on its own.

Starker muchos nachos1
Muchos Nachos 4/5

One of their upcoming new items on the menu, the Muchos Nachos comes loaded with generous servings of home-made ground beef and cheese sauce to have your crunchy Nacho Chips with. The best kind of savoury pairing for your Nachos, and the perfect finger food to go with your Starker fresh beers.

Starker Gamabas Spanish Style1
Gamabas Spanish Style 4.2/5

The Gamabas Spanish Style is another upcoming new item on the menu. This classic Spanish tapas dish features succulent shrimps in a spicy garlicky sauce, served with toasts on the side. The shrimps, which boast a bouncy texture power packed with a great deal of juiciness in each piece stole the show. The mild spicy garlicky sauce is not too overwhelming, and provides just the right amount of flavour to the shrimps so as to not overshadow its freshness.

Starker king prawn pasta3
King Prawn Pasta 4/5

The King Prawn Pasta ($19.80) comes with a single large grilled king prawn on a bed of spaghetti. The king prawn meat is tender and succulent down to the last bite, while the spaghetti is executed excellently as well, cooked al dente and tossed in tomato sauce with a hint of crustacean sweetness due to the prawn stock used.

Starker seafood pizza
Seafood Pizza 4.2/5

The Seafood Pizza ($10.80) features a home-made crispy thin crust pizza topped with copious amounts of prawns, squids and crab meats marinated with garlic and herbs. The assortment of seafood toppings are juicy and fresh with a subtle herb aroma, while the blanket of generous mozzarella cheese on top balances the tangy tomato base.

flatlay2

Reviving the old world style of beer drinking with their authentic German-style fresh brews, and bringing to the table such quality food pegged at affordable prices, Stärker is fast becoming the hip joint to be in the neighbourhood. So before the place gets even buzzier, make your way down soon for a relaxing night over some beer and food with your loved ones. Make sure to enjoy their half-pint giveaways which will be happening every Fridays at stipulated outlets till 2 Feb 2018 too!

What's the silliest thing you've done with your siblings during Lunar New Year?

IMG_0341ed

What does Lunar New Year mean to you? Is it a time for feasting, house visiting, getting red packets or just a holiday? For me it is about "Bonding" - spending time and sharing the fun and laughter with your families, friends and loved ones. Most of us are usually too busy with our individual commitments or may have been living/working abroad. Lunar New Year is the time for us to catch up with one another, to reminisce and strengthen the bonds with one another. This is the time to gather and re-ignite that emotional attachment with your families, friends and loved ones.

3Z5A0218ed

In our family, during Lunar New Year, this form of bonding is always fun and at times comes with many silly moments. For example, my siblings and I love pineapple tarts and we will be fighting to see who can eat the most. During our younger days, we would even imitate lion dancing in the house. Now we are too old for it but that does not stop us from joining in the fun with our nieces sometimes.

What's the silliest thing you've done with your siblings during Lunar New Year? Share your stories on HSBC Singapore’s Facebook page and stand to win S$100 worth of dining vouchers from Conrad Centennial Singapore or a festive hamper from DEAN & DELUCA.

Do take this Lunar New Year to spend time with your families, friends and loved ones, with some of these great offers for HSBC Credit Cardholders.

Beauty in The Pot @ The Centrepoint – New Outlet, New Soup Bases, More Selections of Ingredients, Larger Capacity and Longer Operating Hours.

IMG_0124ed

After almost two years, the wait is finally over! Paradise Group has opened its second Beauty in The Pot outlet at The Centrepoint in Orchard Road. Given the overwhelming response at their popular flagship outlet at One-KM Shopping Mall, the opening of its second outlet at the heart of Orchard Road makes it easier for me to get a table now, and more importantly, I do not need to travel all the way from the West to the East just to satisfy my hotpot craving.

IMG_0130ed

The central location of the new outlet at The Centrepoint sees a larger seating capacity that can sit up to about 250 guests. It is almost twice the capacity of its flagship outlet.

IMG_0128ed

At the new outlet, there is even a Kids’ play area. It is perfect for families who have kids as they can bring their kids for some play time while waiting for the ingredients to be prepared and served.

IMG_0157ed

In conjunction with the opening of the new outlet, Beauty in The Pot at The Centrepoint now offers 4 new soup bases – Vitamin C Tomato Sweet Corn, Herbal Drunken Chicken, Cooling Coconut and Longevity Wild Pine Mushroom. The new soup bases are only available at the new outlet. On top of that, it has also introduced the Quart Pot in the new outlet. It means you can try 4 different type of soup bases in one go. And you know what? That’s what I did. I tried all the 4 new soup bases!

IMG_0162ed

There is even greater news for beauty pot lover as The Centrepoint outlet offers more selections of ingredients as compared to One-KM Shopping Mall outlet. I realised there are more choices of fresh seafood such as lobster, crab, mussel and scallop at its new outlet.

IMG_0149ed

IMG_0146ed

For the convenience of guests, there are new specially assorted platter such as the Assorted Paste Platter (Ebiko Prawn Paste, Pork Paste and Paste of the day), Specialty Meat Platter (Sliced Pork Belly, US Kurobuta Pork, US Marbled Beef Cube and Sliced US Beef) and Assorted Seafood Platter (Live Crabs 300-500g, Fresh White Sea Prawns, Scallops, Red Clams and Squid Rings).

IMG_0158ed

For the late owls and supper lovers, there is even more joy as Beauty in The Pot is open daily until 6am and you get to enjoy 20% off food ingredients after 10:30pm. With its centralise location, that means you need not travel far for supper after your party in town.

IMG_0171ed

There is even more good news for hotpot lovers as Beauty in The Pot is having an opening promotion for OCBC card-members at The Centrepoint outlet. Pay with your OCBC Card and enjoy up to 50% discount off the Soup Bases,
          - Dine with 2 ladies enjoy 30% off
          - Dine with 3 ladies enjoy 40% off
          - Dine with 4 ladies and above to enjoy 50% off
