The highlight of the new set lunch mains, the Sous-vide Toriyama Wagyu Don ($55++), is a masterpiece. Slow-cooked Toriyama Wagyu from Gunma Prefecture graces a bed of Hokkaido Nanatsuboshi sushi rice. Sliced onions, chives, shio konbu, and housemade truffle ponzu sauce complement the dish, culminating in an explosion of umami flavours. Topped with a Japanese egg yolk, truffle shavings, and edible gold flakes, this donburi stands out as one of the best, boasting complexity and depth.

The Pure Wagyu Hamburger Steak ($58++) is another gem among the set lunch mains. Crafted from 100% pure Wagyu minced patty, grilled over binchotan, it arrives with seasonal vegetables and Fat Cow's signature 'Fat Rice.' The flavorful and juicy minced patty paired with the hearty Fat Rice, seasoned with kombu, truffle, and rendered Wagyu fat, is a delightful combination, elevating the dining experience.

Australian Imperial Blossom F4 Wagyu 4.8/5

For those seeking pure beef indulgence, the Australian Imperial Blossom F4 Wagyu, available a la carte at $108++ for 200g, is a stellar addition. Renowned for its exceptional marbling, this Wagyu striploin offers unparalleled tenderness, succulence, and umami flavour. Accompanied by pickled Sri Lankan black pepper, Kizami Wasabi, and Sea Salt, each bite unveils a different facet of premium Wagyu indulgence.

FatCowJan24-34
Honeycomb Vanilla Ice Cream 3.5/5

As a sweet conclusion to the set lunch, a scoop of Honeycomb Vanilla Ice Cream provides a refreshing note. Smooth, creamy, and delicious, it also serves as a delightful palate cleanser after all the richness.

FatCowJan24-31
Housemade Yuzu Cheesecake 4/5

The Housemade Yuzu Cheesecake ($22++) is a revelation for those craving a tangy finish. Silky cream cheese and freshly shredded yuzu create a harmonious blend, delivering creaminess, tanginess, and the zest of yuzu in every bite.

Fat Cow's new set of lunch menus celebrates Wagyu artistry, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to providing an unparalleled Japanese dining experience.

Apart from its International Lunch Buffet every weekday, they offer a High Tea Buffet on weekends, a Seafood Mania Dinner Buffet on Fridays and Saturdays, and the Lobster Rock & Roll Dinner Buffet every Wednesday from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

It costs $118++ per adult / 1,590 Shangri-La Circle Points and $54++ per child / 795 Shangri-La Circle Points. The restaurant is big, brightly lit and suitable for meals of various casual occasions.

IMG_0753
Seafood Counter

As the name of the buffet goes, you can expect a wide range of dishes featuring lobsters done in several ways, starting from the Seafood Counter, which had Boston lobsters, prawns and mussels. We found the Boston lobsters here less sweet than we would have liked and preferred the cooked selections a lot more.

IMG_0754
Japanese Counter

The Japanese Counter offered salmon sashimi, assorted nigiri sushi and maki rolls.

IMG_0776
Appetisers and Salads

You will find dishes such as Couscous with Sundried Tomatoes, Angel Hair Pasta with Truffle Oil Dressing, and King Mushroom and Assorted Cheese for Appetisers and Salads. You will also be able to enjoy hot Lobster Bisque and Lobster Porridge. Both the bisque and the porridge are of a thick consistency, which is pretty comforting!

IMG_0757
Main Course

Moving to selections of Main Course, this is where the most extensive range of lobster dishes are at, from the Lobster Aglio Olio to Kam Heong Lobster, Lobster with Percik Sauce, and more, shown below.

IMG_0756
Salted Egg Lobster

IMG_0759
Lobster Fried Rice

IMG_0760

Of all the lobster dishes, our favourite was the Grilled Baby Lobster. You can find this at the Live Station, where Singapore Laksa with Lobster is available. The Grilled Baby Lobsters were fresh on the spot, had a lovely smoky aroma, and the meat was tender and fresh.

IMG_0758
Lobster in Singapore Chilli Crab Sauce with Fried Mantou

IMG_0763
Lobster in Black Pepper Sauce

Our other favourites were the Lobster in Black Pepper Sauce and Lobster in Singapore Chilli Crab Sauce with Fried Mantou.

IMG_0761
Whole Norwegian Salmon

Other non-lobster highlights in the buffet include Whole Norwegian Salmon, Black Angus Prime Beef Rib with sides of Buttered Vegetables and Truffle Mashed Potatoes, Fish Curry with Okra and more. Beverages offered include chilled drinks, hot teh tarik, tea bags, and coffees from a coffee machine.

IMG_0762
Desserts

Ending off with Desserts, the sweet selection includes Chocolate Fountain, Assorted Cakes, Swiss Rolls and Jellies, Durian Pengat and Fresh Fruits. The creamy and thick Durian Pengat is one of their signatures.

SARAI @ Tanglin Mall - Refreshed Thai Fine Dining Experience With A Sleek New Interiors

SaraiInterior-1

SARAI is a fine dining Thai restaurant located at Tanglin Mall, helmed by Chef de Cuisine Lisa. In conjunction with its sleek new interior looks, the restaurant has put together a new menu and a curated beverage programme with in-house cocktails and mocktails infused with Thai influences to go with Thai food.

Sarai1
Amuse Bouche - Lab Gai 3/5

We had the Exploration Lunch Menu ($58 per pax) comprising an Amuse Bouche, Starters, Mains and Desserts. Teasing our appetite is the Lab Gai, a bite-size cucumber cup filled with spicy and sour minced chicken salad, whetting our appetite.

Sarai7
Starters - Nam Prik Ma Kae 2.5/5, Tod Mum Hu Plee 3.5/5

For the starters, we had the Nam Prik Ma Kae, a refreshing and textural stack of endives, Thai cucumber and jicama topped with tomato chilli dip. The other starter is the crispy Tod Mum Hu Plee. The assorted banana blossom cake is deep-fried to golden brown and paired with a spicy dip.

Sarai12
Tom Klong Pla 4/5

For the mains, it is a set meal on its own. It comes with a bowl of soup, a plate of rice, vegetable and protein. The sweet, spicy and tangy Tom Klong Pla comprises smoked barramundi and sweet leaf bush. It is a bowl of goodness packed with robust flavours.

Sarai27
Pad Hed Rum Gap Dog Pak Pang 4/5, Panang Nua Yang 4/5

The other two items, Pad Hed Rum Gap Dog Pak Pang and Panang Nua Yang are plated together with the fragrant steamed rice. The Australian Wagyu was perfectly grilled to a delightful, tender bite paired with panang curry sauce. The stir-fried Dou Miao flowers with assorted Mushrooms complete the hearty and comforting plate of rice.

Sarai21
Pla Hmug Nung Ma Naw 4.2/5

For the mains, diners can choose either the Australian Wagyu or Steamed Squid. If you are not into beef, you can go for the Pla Hmug Nung Ma Naw, steamed squid stuffed with roe sac with chilli lime garlic sauce. The flavours are brighter and sharper compared to the wagyu.

Sarai33
Jelly Bi Tuey 4/5

We ended the three-course lunch meal with Jelly Bi Tuey for dessert. The Pandan Panna Cotta with Coconut Foam was smooth and creamy, while the crispy lotus-shaped cracker provided extra texture enjoyment.

Taiga Dining @ Regent Hotel Singapore - Semi Hidden Omakase Restaurant Offering Edomae Style Sushi

TaigaDining-13

Taiga Dining is a 13-seater fine-dining sushi-ya located in Regent Hotel Singapore. The restaurant is somewhat semi-hidden behind a mountainous rockscape. Upon finding the hidden entrance, diners are transformed into a dark and contemporary interior. The restaurant is helmed by Master Chef Taiga Kanekuni, who specialises in Edomae-style sushi.

Taiga4
Pumpkin Ravioli and Biwa Trout 4/5

We had the Hi To To Se Omakase Menu ($480), which comprises 5 Signature Appetisers, 9 Pieces of Sushi, Trio of Uni Hand Roll, Miso Soup and Dessert. The omakase dinner kickstarted with the 5 appetisers, starting with the Pumpkin Ravioli and Biwa Trout, served with pumpkin sauce. I enjoyed the layer of crispy skin on the trout. However, I didn't expect to have ravioli in a Japanese restaurant, which made me slightly confused about what cuisine I was having for a moment.

Taiga8
Striped Jack with Mikan Orange and Caviar 4.2/5

Taiga20
Sandborer Tempura 4/5

Next is Striped Jack with Mikan Orange and Caviar served chilled. A light and refreshing appetiser that whetted up the appetite. Coated in a light tempura batter is the Sandborer paired with matcha salt. It is light and clean tasting. Though deep-fried, it is not greasy at all.

Taiga23
Fatty Tuna Pickled in Soy Sauce 5/5

Completing the 5 appetisers is the Fatty Tuna Pickled in Soy Sauce and White Shrimp with Murasaki Uni and Autumn Truffles. These were my favourites among the five appetisers. The melted in the mouth fatty tuna, complemented by mustard, tasted heavenly.

Taiga25
White Shrimp with Murasaki Uni and Autumn Truffles 5/5

Shaved Autumn truffles are piled atop sweet white shrimp with Murasaki uni hidden in it. Have it all in one bite to get a burst of luxe flavours working harmoniously together.

Taiga29
Sea Bream 5/5

Taiga32
Sardine 4.2/5

Taiga35
Lean Tuna 4.2/5

Taiga39
Sujiko Roe 3.8/5

Following that, we moved on to the Sushi course. There are 9 sushi pieces starting with the Sea Bream, Sardine, Lean Tuna and Sujiko Roe. Sitting at the sushi counter, it is with great pleasure to see Chef Taiga meticulously put each morsel together, giving justice to the premium and fresh ingredients.

Taiga44
Medium Fatty Tuna 4.5/5

Taiga46
Blackthroat Seaperch 5/5

Taiga50
Orient Clam

The Medium Fatty Tuna, Blackthroat Seaperch and Orient Clam are next. The highlight has to be the blackthroat seaperch which comes with a hint of charred fragrance, lightly seared on the surface over binchotan.

Taiga54
Sea Urchin Handroll 5/5

Who can resist the Sea Urchin Handroll brimming with three different types of sea urchin? Atop the sushi rice is Bafun Uni and two varieties of Murasaki Uni wrapped in A-grade jet black nori seaweed.

TaigaDining-11

Taiga60
Botan Shrimp 4.8/5

Taiga63
Sea Eel 4.2/5

Wrapping up the sushi course are the Botan Shrimp and Sea Eel. We are given a glimpse of the fresh, enormous botan shrimp before Chef Taiga skilfully deshelled and served the sweet and meaty shrimp on top sushi rice. The sea eel grilled over binchotan has an incredibly soft texture that easily falls apart in my mouth.

Taiga68
Dessert 3.8/5

Wrapping up our omakase meal, we are served a bowl of Miso Soup followed by a platter of Fresh Fruits with a scoop of chestnut ice cream.

Besides the Hi To To Se Omakase Menu ($480) we had, Taiga has another two menus. They are Ino Shika Cho Omakase Menu (3 appetisers, 8 pieces of sushi, miso soup and dessert) and Ka Cho Huu Getsu Omakase Menu (4 appetisers, 9 pieces of sushi, uni hand roll, miso soup and dessert) priced at $280 and $380 respectively.
