Local grill and steakhouse Bedrock Bar & Grill introduces Japan's Budou-buta, also known as "Grape Pork" in its final edition of World Meat Series #WorldMeatSeries for 2019. Available from now till 15 December 2019, diners can experience three exclusive in-house creations featuring flavours of the exquisite Budou-buta. The epitome of Japanese pork, it has a soft and tender texture, and a milder scent than most pork, which results from a diet that includes the polyphenol-rich skin and seeds of grapes.
Bedrock Smoked Tomato Soup 3.8/5
To kickstart the meal, we had the Bedrock Smoked Tomato Soup ($16++). Smooth and rich, the soup has a pleasant sweet-tanginess from the applewood smoked tomatoes and basil mascarpone.
Pork Belly with Scallops 4/5
The Pork Belly with Scallops ($68++) was an absolute enjoyment, with the pork belly chunk falling apart easily and has a soft, in-the-mouth texture. Served with braised cabbage and corn puree to add a subtle sweetness to the dish.
Woodfire Grilled Pork Steak 4.2/5
The goodness of Budou-buta pork can be enjoyed in different forms and textures - one of our favourite being the Woodfire Grilled Pork Steak ($58++), which comes with sauté potatoes and herb truffle sauce. The indulgent cut has a tender texture while having just the right amount of fats and juiciness. My only qualm is that the herb truffle flavour was too subtle to detect.
Bedrock Crumble for 2, 4/5
End the meal on a sweet note with the Bedrock Crumble for 2 ($26++). The dessert comes with slices of juicy, sweet oven-baked apples beneath a pile of crunchy walnut streusel, which paired perfectly with the creamy scoop of vanilla ice cream.
