The Provision Shop @ Everton Park

IMG_0430ed

Everton Park housing estate is slowing turning into a little charm by itself with small boutique cafe opening up one after another at the public housing void deck. One such entry into the cafe scene is The Provision Shop by hotelier Loh Lik Peng and Cocotte's chef Anthony Yeoh.

Latte 2.8/5

The Latte ($5) is served in a nostalgic glass cup as if one is having a cup of kopi at the local coffeeshop.

I have to say the latte art is really quite beautiful. However I did not enjoy my latte. I found the coffee too acidic to my liking.

Chocolate Croissant 3/5

As I was quite fun from my lunch, I did not try their hot food. Instead I ordered a Chocolate Croissant ($3.50). It was delightful to discover the wonderful flavour of chocolate with each bite of the croissant. Although the croissant is buttery, it did not have the flakiness I was looking for.

Frankly speaking I am not sure what is the hype about The Provision Shop. I like the fact that the cafe added some color to the old Everton Park estate but I was not impressed with the coffee and croissant I had. I reserved my view of the cafe as I have not tried most of the item on their menu. However noticing that they have a small kitchen and using chef microwave most of the time, I hope they can prove me wrong in my next wish.

    1. Hi there, thanks for visiting my site and taking your time to leave a comment. I did not deny that I only try one latte and one croissant. In my paragraph, i have clearly stated so and I also mentioned I reserved my view as I have not tried the rest of the item. Any recommendation on your part what I should try in my next visit?

  2. Hmmm, I think a CAFE should be serving decent coffee, at the least. However, like the blogger said, the latte was really beautiful.
    No comments about the croissant.
Anyway, all these bloggers have their rights to voice their opinions. I hope for more bloggers like him, rather than those who are just blatantly gushing and promoting newly set up cafes.
    Thanks.

  3. No I don't agree. The selling pt of this place is not even their coffee or latte art. It's like going to a restaurant, not ordering their food but complaining about their regular coffee/tea (just an analogy). If you want good coffee, why even come to this place? You should know better and head to Nylon instead which is nearby.

    1. So are you saying Provision Shop is a restaurant not a cafe? Well I can associate it with the menu that its offering. I agreed that Nylon has good coffee but then I think part and puzzle of a foodie is to seek out other or even new places to share it with all.

  4. Maybe this blogger wants to visit and blog abt this newish cafe like every blogger is rushing to do. Fair enough. But he should at least have waited till his next visit (if any) when he is ordering more food to give a more balanced review. Rather than pass judgement based on just one latte and one croissant alone.

    1. Hi there, thanks for your recommendation and comment. I have been honest in stating in my statement based on what I have tried. I have also mentioned that I will reserve my view since I have not tried the rest of the menu. Why the focus is only on the context of the sentence and not the whole paragraph?

  5. Taken from TPS's Facebook page - The Provision Shop is a "Cafe, Salad Bar, Sandwich Shop".

    Meaning of Cafe:
    a·fé also ca·fe (k-f, k-)
    n.
    A coffeehouse, restaurant, or bar.
[French, coffee, café, from Italian caffè, coffee, from Ottoman Turkish qahveh; see coffee.]

Nevermind lah, you cannot win everyone..
After all these comments, I find it a turn-off to go to TPS for some strange reason..

    1. Don't worry, its actually part and puzzle of our culture nowadays that I have grown to accept it. I am fine, I am kind of used to it. Don't be turned off, we should always give a 2nd chance be it life, people or eateries if they are willing to listen and take things constructively. Lastly thanks for your kind support.

  7. I don't understand why you people start flaming this blogger just because he ordered a coffee and a crossiant. He has already stated in his post that this is not a complete picture of this place. What else do you people want?

  8. It depends whether he position himself as a food critic or blogger. There is a difference...

Since he stated that he is an amateur food blogger, it his personal opinion. However, some things should be kept as a thought rather than say out loud like "I am not sure what is the hype about..."

    1. Thank you for leaving a comment. I don't see myself as a critic as I am merely sharing my food journey in my personal preference
