The Market Grill @ Telok Ayer Street

IMG_1395ed

The Market Grill is a new kid on the block at Telok Ayer. It is another restaurant opened by renowned hotelier and restaurateur Loh Lik Peng. At the helm of the kitchen is Executive Chef Colin West who formerly plied his culinary skills at Les Amis, Le Saint Julien, Braise and Swiss Grill. The Market Grill features charbroiled steaks, live Atlantic Lobsters as well as Colin West's (CW) Signature handcrafted Burgers that are hearty and robust.

Wagyu Teaser 4.2/5

Whetting up the appetite, lunch started off with the Wagyu Teaser ($19) that is served with thinly sliced 4 hours slow roasted wagyu rump complemented with peppery rocket, pickled onion, vine tomatoes and balsamic shallot dressing. The plate had a symphony of flavours that worked harmoniously.

CW Cod Fish Burger 4.5/5

For something different from the burger menu, the CW Cod Fish Burger ($26) caught my attention. The burger came with perfectly grilled succulent and buttery Atlantic Cod in pommery marinate sandwiched with a parmesan bun and lemony herbed mayo served with vine cherry tomatoes and romaine lettuce on the side. The quintessential burger blown me away with the execution and flavours. This is a dish that will bring me back again.

The Market Grill has a no reservation policy hence be early if you want to beat the crowd to savour the grilled steaks and Atlantic Lobster from the imported woodstone charbroiler or the handcrafted from scratch burgers. The price is a bit pricey but it is worth paying for the quality and freshness.

  1. I just went there too! Didn't have quite a positive response to yours. Only the fish burger was nice. The rest of the food was so-so and expensive.
