Shabu No Koya @ Liang Court Shopping Centre

I was back at the Liang Court Shopping Centre with my girl to use the remaining of our vouchers after the Japan Gourmet Journey at Liang Court Shopping Centre. We decided to check out Shabu No Koya since we didn't get to try the other time.

We order the Wagyu Beef and Kurobuta Pork Shabu Shabu Set. Interestingly the restaurant uses large Kaminabe Paper to hold the soup. These Kaminabe Paper is from Japan and absorbs impurities from the meat. It is quite amazing that the Kaminabe Paper can stay intact after all the boilng and cooking.

Both the Kurobuta Pork and Wagyu Beef were beautiful but I thought they were too thinly sliced for textural enjoyment.

The soup was rather bland but after all the vegetables were brought to a boil, it will be sweeten.

The lovely and hearty dinner however was spolit by some unexpected experience. First of all, the restaurant ran out of rice at 7pm. This is a bit absurd consider most of the walk in customers asked for rice and some even walked away when told no more rice is served. Why can't they cook some rice since it was still early from closing. There is even supermarket just down the corridor. We could see that a few customers were quite upset when they couldn't have another refill that include myself.

We also have a little commotion who I think is the restaurant manager. She was trying to discourage us from using the voucher although they participated in the Japan Gourmet Journey week organised by the shopping centre, saying it is hard for them to claim from the mall's management. In the end we just gave her the vouchers and left since she claimed that the most she treated it as if we had a free meal.

    1. For a Japanese restaurant I find them lacking the basic discipline. All of them are not in proper uniform. I have not gone back since.
