Flavvors The Oriental Cafe (丰味) @ Orangetee Building Toa Payoh

Flavvors The Oriental Cafe is one of the 3 restaurants owned by the Febulous Group. All the 3 restaurants are housed under the same roof at the Orangetee Building at Toa Payoh Hub. Flavvors serves a combination of Peranakan and Chinese cuisines.

The first thing I wanted to try was the Deep Fried Century Egg on the menu. The breaded crust was crispy and nice. Unfortunately, the deep fried probably dried up  the century egg and became rubbery, losing that distinct century egg taste.

I liked the crab meat and egg white gravy that was drenched onto the broccoli. It was light and flavourful. It also helped to enhance the taste, texture and appearance. For people that do not like their greens, this probably will help to change their opinion.

I ordered the Deep Fried Chicken with Marmite Spicy Sauce to round off my dinner with a protein. The Marmite flavour was distinct and rich. I was delighted as usually it turned out quite mild in flavour.

  1. On 27 April 2012, I visited the restaurant with my family and 2 children. We ordered the Ala Carte dim sum buffet.

The food was according to my expected standard of being horrendously bad. The skin for the all dumplings could break into pieces!

The service was not worth mentioning. We had the idea that it could be the company’s policy to serve the customer very slowly so that we would get tired of waiting and leave. I ordered 2 plates of siew mai and 2 plates of shrimp dumplings since the service was tortoise slow. The food arrived in total of 2 plates with 4 pcs each. I also orders 1 plate of charsiew pastry and it came in 4 pcs too. In that case, please inform customer that each order will be limited to one plate serving! Terrible!

We took a long 2 hours to “finish’ our lunch, left with half filled stomach and hurriedly carried our impatient toddlers out. Luckily, this meal was 100% complimentary using some vouchers!

Footnote: I noticed I Luvvy Curry and Wave which are neighbors are under the same management so I will give them a miss too!

    1. Hi Jean,

Sorry to hear about the bad experience. I have not been back to the restaurant since my last visit. Quite sad to hear of such lousy service.

I didn't try the dim sum so I will reserve my comment. However I will take your word and avoid the dim sum in my next visit.

Yes you are correct that the other 2 restaurants, Luvvy Curry and Wave is under the same management.

  4. I bought the voucher for their dinner buffet.

Waited 2.5hrs just for them to serve the steam fish fillet despite me asking them several times why they took so long!! Several silly excuses given for delay. In the end, the fish only came when the restaurant was closing.

They also keep serving the wrong dishes. Food taste is average.

  6. unhappy diners. Ambience is just right for me. an
d food wise is consider of above average. But the service is totally out of this world. i mean way below average. First serving of my order came in just below 15 minutes. but any orders thereafter will be at least 30 minutes for just 1dish. what really annoyed me most is that the always serve the wrong dish and took a really long time to serve it out. maybe this is their way of ripping

customer off. Coz if we have to wait anything from 20 to 30 minutes for just 1 dish then i think we will just too FULL to stomach
