Blanco Court Fish Bee Hoon. Fried Fish Soup @ Beach Road

Is this the original Blanco Court Fish Bee Hoon, Fried Fish Soup? No matter what this is the definitely one of the best I have eaten. My colleague brought me here for lunch after our conference at MBS. It is located along Beach Road at an old 80's setting coffeeshop at the corner of Aliwal Street. A queue was already formed when we reached the stall. We waited for about half an hour but it was worthwhile.

We ordered both the fried fish bee hoon and fried fish soup. The soup was thick and tasty with the sweetness of anchovies. One sip of the soup and I knew I am won over. The fish was also very fresh. One bite into the fried fish and how the fish meat broken down, we can tell the fish was freshly prepared on the day instead of using frozen fish meat.

What wows me more was the used of spinach and deep fried egg in the fish soup. The generous serving of spinach gave a good balance to the heavy flavouring of the soup. The fried egg was a surprise to me and my first having it for fish soup. It was a mouth drooling meal having different flavours coming together in an excellent bowl of fish soup.

The stall opens Monday to Saturday from 10am to 730pm, 10am to 4pm on public holidays. It is closed on Sunday.

To get here. The easiest way is to alight at Nicoll Highway MRT station. Follow the overhead walkway and it will bring you directly to Beach Road cutting across The Concourse building.

Alternative, you can alight at Bugis MRT station but the walk is a bit longer but you can do some sightseeing at Arab Street.

A pity eating fish soup in a warm environment is quite counter-intutive. But I will still go for the food ! Thanks for the review !

  3. All the stalls within that coffee shop are excellent too by the way! Try the cheap and tasty braised duck rice (ask for breast meat) and the claypot chicken rice. Delish! :p
